Tom Kalantzis, Director of Safety

Metro Walls, Inc. provider of full service commercial framing and drywall, today announces Tom Kalantzis has been hired as Safety Director.

A native of Manchester, NH, Tom brings with him an extensive career centered around training and leadership to the Safety Director position at Metro Walls, Inc. Tom’s introduction to the construction and mechanical industry began with his service in the Air Force where he spent 8 years as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic and Air Cargo Specialist.

Tom continued a career in public safety choosing law enforcement and ultimately achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He spent 20 years developing his professional and personal skills as a team leader studying First Line Supervision, and Command Staffing at Roger Williams University, Investigation through the University of Michigan, as well as Critical Incident Command, and Critical Response, all which he looks to apply to Metro Walls job sites in an effort to effectively communicate and ensure safety for all field staff.

Metro Walls has a strong Safety and Health Program within the company and is a proud member of the Associated Builders and Contractors NH/VT & Massachusetts Self Insured Groups. This is a member only, aggressive programs that rely heavily on behavior based safety programs that assist with changing a company’s safety culture in a positive way. Metro Walls employs its own Safety Director who implements beyond industry standard safety measures to include Zero Accident Program, New Hire Safety Orientation Program, CPR training.

The trade is well known in the construction industry to be a high risk and dangerous occupation with many hazards that present themselves on a daily basis. Metro Walls has implemented numerous methods to insure accountability from the workers all the way up to management to insure everyone is properly trained and has a voice in regards to safety. Employee engagement and their support of the safety polices are key factors for a safe job site.

Our commitment to safety is instilled in our workforce at the time of hire. We have a safety orientation program that is completed by all new hires prior to arriving to the jobsite. This gives the worker a basic understanding of safety along with sending the message that safety is a top priority at all our jobsites. All employees attend ongoing mandatory safety training to insure workers are trained properly to perform their job safely.
